Crux Crew (Front Desk Staff)

Job Description:

The Crux is looking for front desk staff who will be responsible for the management of services and processes, and daily operations of The Crux Bouldering. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, cares about building the Crux Community and is enthusiastic about contributing new ideas.
 

Role and Responsibilities:

The applicant will have responsibilities in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Daily operations: 

    • Cultivate a sense of community within the gym

    • Maintain facilities and cleanliness.

    • Induct new members.

    • Make coffee for customers.

    • Maintain the inventory levels of food and retail products. 

    • Facilitate in social events hosted at The Crux.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Loves climbing.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.

  • Positive attitude and team player.

  • Basic computer skills (Signing in customers, checking and responding to emails, etc).

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Commitment to following policies, procedures and processes.

 

In addition to the above requirements, prior experience in the following areas is preferred but not required:

  • Route setting in a climbing gym.

  • Making coffee.

Beta Creator (Route Setter)

Job Description:

The Crux is looking for Route Setters to help create new and challenging climbs for patrons of all skill levels. We would prefer staff that can also work front desk shifts each week. This allows our setters to get to know our customers and have the opportunity to receive feedback about the setting. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, cares about building the Crux Community and is enthusiastic about contributing new ideas. 

 

Role and Responsibilities:

Route setters will have responsibilities in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Route setting

    • Setting new and challenging routes for all skill levels.

    • Washing and cleaning climbing holds.

    • Wall maintenance and safety checks.

    • Regularly contribute to team meetings regarding the direction of the gym.

  • Daily operations: 

    • Maintain facilities and cleanliness.

    • Induct new members.

    • Make coffee for customers.

    • Maintain the inventory levels of food and retail products. 

    • Participate in social events hosted at The Crux.

    • Cultivate a sense of community within the gym.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Deep passion for climbing.

  • Route setting experience.

  • Team player.

  • Open to giving and receiving feedback.

  • Desire to improve route setting skills .


 

In addition to the above requirements, prior experience in the following areas is preferred but not required:

  • Making coffee.

Captain (Facility Manager)

Job Description:

The Crux is seeking a full-time manager who will be responsible for the management of services, processes, and daily operations of The Crux, as well as shaping a broader vision for the gym. This position will oversee coordination of venue, staff and stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, cares about building the Crux community and is enthusiastic about contributing new ideas. Reports to and works closely with the Directors to continually evaluate and improve The Crux’s services. 

 

Role and Responsibilities:

The manager will have responsibilities in, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Daily operations: 

    • Roster front desk staff.

    • Maintain and improve the facilities within the gym.

    • Developing and reviewing risk management measures.

    • Ensure that the standard of the cleanliness and organisation is kept.

    • Cultivate a sense of community within the gym

    • Organise and facilitate social events hosted at The Crux

    • Work with the head setter on a weekly setting schedule and other special programs.

    • Be the first point of contact with customers and stakeholders 

    • Develop and monitor procedures and policies relating to daily operations.

    • Maintain the inventory levels of food and retail products. 

  • Event Programming:

    • Organise special events with the help of the team

    • Coordinate with staff for various programs within the gym.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Loves climbing.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Prior management experience.

  • Team player.

  • Comfortable learning how to use customer management software.

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Commitment to following policies, procedures and processes.

  • Open to giving and receiving feedback.

  • Enthusiastic about contributing new ideas.
